July 2024’s Big Trip West
This is an overview. We’ll have more details in subsequent posts.
We left home in Northeast TN and headed west to visit friends and family in Oregon, Washington State, and Idaho. Then, it was on to Yellowstone and Custer State Park in South Dakota for photography.
The first order of business was to get west. So, we had some big driving days. On the first day we drove 700 miles to Columbia MO. The next day was 770 miles to Cheyenne WY. Then, things got easier. We spent the third night at Hagerman ID and finally arrived in Bend OR to visit friends on the fourth night.
We spent a couple of nights in Bend and then drove to the Seattle area to visit friends there for a couple of nights. This was the farthest we were from home.
Moving toward home, but in no hurry, we visited Joyce’s sister and brother-in-law in Council ID before heading to Yellowstone where we spent three nights. From Yellowstone, we headed over Beartooth Pass to spend a night at Sheridan WY on our way to Custer State Park.
Finally, after three nights in Custer State Park, we headed home. The drive took two very long days.
