Osprey

We live on a river that supports osprey and eagles. We’ve watched them hunt. We’ve watched them fight over fish. It’s all good.

One annual treat is when the osprey teach the young to fish. The water in our section of river is rather shallow and calm when the TVA is not generating at the dam above us. There’s also a high bluff across the river. So, it’s a pretty easy place for the osprey and eagles to see trout in the river.

This morning there were at least two adults and maybe three immature osprey. It’s hard to tell, as they are often out of sight in the trees across the river. What we do see is lots of flybys by the immature, some higher flights by the adults, and lots of calling. It’s a special time.
